The digital analytics team are in the process of creating new reports for each of the titles across the business. These reports will provide stakeholders with a list of top articles for each site section (news) or sub section (uk news).

To allow users to collect this data themselves within the tool the digital analytics team will need to enable a data correlation between site section and article headline. This will be done over the next couple of weeks.

Once the correlation has been enabled, users will be able to get this information by navigating to Custom Traffic > Custom Traffic 1-10 > Sub Section 1. This will render a list of all the top site sections for the site e.g. news, sport etc. If users then click on the green icon to the left of the relevant section they will see a pop up which will say ‘ Show Page Views for this item correlated with: Site Content > Article Headline’.

Choosing this option will render a list of top articles for the selected site section

If a user wanted this data for global visitors to the Sun they would ensure they had enabled the ‘Sun’ report suite (by using the report suite drop down in the top left hand corner of the screen).

If users wanted this data for UK Visitors to the Sun, they would follow the instructions above, but make sure they had enabled the ‘Sun – UK Only’ report suite.

Please note, we will be providing users with access to the Geo Segment report suites once they are up and running.

We have set up individual report suites for the main geographic regions (UK/ US/ Rest of World) for each of our main titles. Once these geo-segment report suites are up and running users will be given access to them.

To get the total number of UK unique users to the Timesonline (for example) a user would go to the account drop down list in the top left hand corner of their screen, and select the ‘Times Online – UK Only’ report suite. All the data within this report suite will be just for UK visitors. So, to get the total number of UK unique users, navigate to Site Metrics > Visitors > Daily Uniques or Monthly Uniques (depending on the date range selected).

Q.	Why can I not see Weekly Uniques within SiteCatalyst?
A.	We have removed this metric from the tool as it is not a useful metric for the business to monitor

Q.	What are custom events?
A. The custom event reports provide data on specified events occurring at a page level e.g. an internal search being made, a user logging in. This report provides users with a basic count of the number of times a given event has been triggered i.e. 86 searches were made within a given time period. For information on the search terms entered, please see the Custom Conversion report.

Q.	How do the Article Headline and Pages Report differ? Which should I use and when?
A. Ordinarily, the Pages report should be used to check traffic to all pages (Articles, Index, Search, Weblog pages etc). However, currently the pages names are not very user friendly, so we are encouraging users to use the article headline report to check traffic to all article pages. Moving forward, all pages will be renamed to make them much easier to recognise. Once this has been come into effect, you will receive an email from the Digital Analytics team.

Q.	Why are the page names not very user friendly?
A.	The page names are in the process of being changed to make them more user friendly.

Q.	Why can I see ‘unspecified’ as the most popular option within the content hierarchy report?
A.	This is an issue that is being rectified.

Q.	Why can I see duplicates of certain pages/ content sections?
A.	This is an issue that is being rectified.

Q.	Why can I not download ‘Click Map’?
A.	Please try to download the Click Map plugin using Mozilla Firefox rather than IE

Q.	Where do I check how a particular campaign is performing?
A. Go to Campaigns > Tracking Code > Tracking Code. Here you will find a list of campaign codes and the number of click throughs each campaign received.

Q.	Why are the campaign names not more user friendly? E.g. Win100 Cars, rather than EMC-145237W100?
A.	This is something the Digital Analytics team is looking at changing.

Q.	How do I get access to more reporting suites?
A.	Please email the Digital Analytics team at Digital.Analytics@newsint.co.uk

Q.	How do I get access to the API?
A.	Please email the Digital Analytics team at Digital.Analytics@newsint.co.uk

Q.	Where can I find implementation/ user guides?
A. You can download all guides and White Papers from the Help section within SiteCatalyst. Alternatively, please go to the training website on NI’s intranet.

Q.	Why do some of the reports have no data in? e.g. Video, Search Keywords – Paid Report etc
A. The SiteCatalyst tool is still being confirgured, so certain reporting sections do not contain data. Emails will be sent to users as new reports become available to the business.

Q.	Can I create my own user journey path, rather than using the next and previous page reports?
A. You can create your own user journey path using the PathFinder report which you will find in Paths > Pages > PathFinder. There are clear instructions on the page guiding users on how to create a path. Please note that each path can only contain 4 steps. For more advanced pathing please contact the Digital Analytics team at Digital.Analytics@newsint.co.uk

Q.	How do I find data for AAO, QOO visitors?
A. There will be specific report suites for AAO and QOO loyalty segments. Most users will be given access to these report suites, which they will then be able to access using the report suite drop down.

Q.	How do I find data for UK visitors only?
A. There will be specific report suite for UK Visitors only. Most users will be given access to these report suites, which they will then be able to access using the report suite drop down.

Q.	Can I create segments within SiteCatalyst? E.g. US Visitors?
A. SiteCatalyst does not allow users to create segments in the same way that HBX did. However, the Digital Analytics has access to Omniture’s advanced segmentation tool (Discover). For any segmentation requests, please email the Digital Analytics team at Digital.Analytics@newsint.co.uk

Q. How can I see how a particular section is performing across all our different properties? E.g. how can I tell how many Page Impressions ‘Sport’ receives across the Sun, Times and NotW?
A. To understand how particular sections are performing across different titles please use the ‘NI Global Rollup’ reporting Suite. This report suite includes data on all NI titles. To check how a particular section e.g. sport, is performing, go to the Custom Trafiic > Custom Traffic 21 – 30 > Common Section

Q.	What do ‘custom conversion’ reports do?
A. Custom Conversion reports provide data on ‘who, what or which variables’ affected conversions e.g. the custom event report will tell you how many searches took place on a given day, but the custom conversion report will tell you what the search terms were.

Q.	What do ‘custom traffic’ reports do?
A. Custom traffic reports provide you with information on specific variables that are being tracked at a page level. E.g. Byline, Page Type, Article ID etc

Q.	Where can I find the top internal search keywords report?
A.	Navigate to Custom Traffic > Custom Traffic 1 – 10 > Internal Search Terms

Q.	Where can I find a report detailing where visitors are coming from?
A. To understand where visitors are coming from please use the Traffic Sources set of reports. You will notice that many of these reports are empty. This is because they are in the process of being configured. An email will be sent out as soon as these reports are up ready to be used by the business.
